My neighbor called the cops over my weekend grinder use

I was using my angle grinder on a Saturday afternoon, thinking it was fine. But my neighbor said the noise was too much and threatened to call the cops. Now I have to be extra careful about when I use loud tools. It's made me realize how important it is to check local noise rules.

My buddy got a warning for using his leaf blower at 7 AM on a Sunday... city ordinance says no loud tools before 8. He thought since it was daylight, it was fine... but the noise carried right into their bedroom window. Another time, I was playing music in my garage workshop... not even that loud, but the bass vibrated their pictures off the wall. It's crazy how sound travels in these suburban setups... you never know what'll set someone off. Now I always check the time before firing up any equipment... saves a lot of hassle.
