Heard a guy at the record store say 'everyone knows the first album, but the second one is the ghost' and it made me dig out my copy of 'The Great Escape' by Blur.
After listening again, I think that 1995 album gets completely overshadowed by 'Parklife', even though the song 'The Universal' is maybe their best track, so what's another 'ghost' second album from a band that hit big?

Wait, you think The Universal is their best track? That's a wild take. The Great Escape is full of weird filler, but Country House was the number one single. Parklife is the solid album, the second one is the ghost because it's messy and everyone was sick of Britpop by then. For a real ghost, look at Stone Roses. Their first album is a classic, but Second Coming might as well not exist.

Second Coming is the perfect example. Took five years to make and the whole Madchester thing was dead. Love Spreads is a great song but the album feels so heavy and lost. I had the same feeling with The La's, that self-titled debut is flawless but they never even made a second one, it just vanished.
