Wasted $300 on a cheap cutterhead rebuild kit

Bought a no-name cutterhead rebuild kit off eBay for my 12 inch dredge. Seals failed after 3 weeks and I had to pull everything apart again. Anyone else get burned by cheap replacement parts?

Man I feel your pain. "3 weeks" lol thats like a solid 2 weeks longer than my cheap rebuild kit lasted on my 8 inch. I got one of those no name Chinese seal kits and the thing started leaking grease after the first weekend out. Had to tear it all apart while my buddies were laughing at me and running their rigs. The cost of the kit plus the time wasted makes it feel like I just paid $300 to learn a lesson I shoulda already knew.

Did I accidently buy the same kit YOU did?

Everybody learns this lesson eventually, just in different flavors. You overpay for something once and it sticks with you forever. I spent $80 on a "heavy duty" can opener that broke after three months, then bought a manual one for $12 that's been going strong for five years. It's like the universe teaches you that cheap stuff costs more in the long run, but you have to get burned first to really believe it.
