Took me 6 months to find a coworking space in Chiang Mai with reliable power backups

Lost a full day of work three times before I started asking every place I toured about their generator setup. Finally found a spot near Nimman that tests theirs weekly. Has anyone else had to add 'backup power' to their screening questions?

and honestly the power thing is only half the battle. i was in bali for two months and thought i had it all figured out with a place that had a generator, but then the internet went down because the whole street's fiber line got dug up during construction. nobody tells you about how the infrastructure outside your building can mess you up too. i started asking about backup internet too - like, do they have a second provider or at least a decent hotspot plan? felt ridiculous at first but after losing a whole client deadline i got over that pretty fast. the coworking place i ended up with in canggu actually had a starlink as their backup, which felt excessive until the main line went out for three days straight.

My buddy Dave learned that one the hard way in Mexico City. He booked this Airbnb that had a backup generator and dual internet lines, but day three the entire neighborhood flooded from a busted water main. No power, no internet, no way to get a taxi because the street was a river for like 36 hours. He ended up working out of a Starbucks three blocks away wearing borrowed flip-flops and typing on his phone.
