Slow internet in Bali made me flip my whole setup around
I spent 8 months in Ubud thinking my laptop was the problem. Video calls lagged, uploads crawled, I was ready to buy a new MacBook for $2,300. Then a barista at a cafe in Canggu told me my router placement was trash and my building had one shared connection for 12 units. Turns out I never checked the actual network speed at different times of day. I had been working from 9 to 5 like a normal office job, but the whole island peaks at those hours. Now I shift my deep work to 6am local time and book co-working spots with dedicated lines. But here is the debate: is it on the nomad to adapt to crappy infrastructure, or should we just pay more for a private villa with fiber? Curious what others do when the location itself fights back.

Six AM starts in Bali sounds like punishment, but so does paying villa prices just to load a YouTube video. Honestly, at this point you might as well embrace the chaos and tell people you're on "island time" while your calls drop.
