10 years of fuel filters and I just learned I was priming them wrong
I always filled the filter housing to the brim before installing it on my 6.7 Cummins thinking I was doing it right. Last week a buddy watched me and pointed out I was bypassing the water separator by not bleeding the air from the secondary filter. Any of you guys ever mess up a simple step for years without realizing it?

I was in the same boat for a solid six or seven years on my old Powerstroke. Used to just dump diesel right into the filter housing and screw the cap back on figuring air would sort itself out. Then a diesel tech friend of mine watched me do it and just shook his head. He walked me through filling it slow and cracking the vent on the secondary to let the air out properly. Made a believer out of me after that, truck started way faster and didn't stumble for those first few seconds.
