Two-factor codes from my bank actually caught a real fraud attempt
I used to think 2FA texts were just a hassle, especially when they hit at random times. About 6 months ago I got a code from my credit union in Austin that I never asked for, and I almost ignored it. Then 20 minutes later my card got declined at a gas station in Ohio, a state I have never visited. That text code was the only thing that tipped me off before the charge went through, and the bank confirmed someone had my card number from a skimmer somewhere. I always assumed that scam stuff happened to other people, not someone who checks statements every Sunday. Now I actually look at every alert even if it feels like noise. Has anyone else had a saved 2FA alert turn out to be the real warning sign?
