My neighbor just told me his 'password' is his dog's name plus 123, and I realized how many people still do this.
I see it all the time, and a simple phrase like 'Fluffy123' can be cracked in under a second by basic tools, so what's a better rule you actually follow for creating passwords?

Wait, he actually said it out loud? That's the wild part to me. People will type it, but saying your password to a neighbor is a whole other level. My rule is just make it a random sentence with some numbers. Like "mybluedogatetwoshoes47". It's long, it's weird, and no one is guessing it.

That sentence method works fine until a site limits you to 16 characters or something. Then you're stuck rewriting the whole thing. Been there, done that, got the frustrated email to support. Most people don't have a system at all, they just use the same pet name with a 1 at the end. String of random dictionary words is still better than nothing though.

Good idea, but you gotta mix in some capitals or symbols too. "Mybluedogatetwoshoes47" is still just letters and numbers.
