Warning: My "junk" Compaq from a garage sale in Reno ended up running 3 games at 144 fps and now I have questions
So about 4 weeks ago I grabbed a dirty old Compaq Presario tower at a garage sale in Reno for $15. The guy selling it told me it was "good for parts only" and I mostly bought it for the beige case look. On a whim I gutted it, tossed in a used B450 board, a Ryzen 5 5600, and a 3060 I already had sitting in a drawer, and crammed it all in there with a Dremel and way too much electrical tape. First boot it posted fine, which honestly shocked me since I drilled holes in a spot I was not sure about. Then I ran three different games at 1440p and all three held right around 144 fps, and I just sat there staring at this 1998 plastic shell like it owed me an explanation. Temps stayed under 72C too, which I did not expect from a case with one sad 80mm fan. Now I want to do a second one but I am stuck on airflow, because the front bezel on these old things is basically solid plastic. Has anyone here cut vents into a factory bezel without making it look like a raccoon chewed through it?

Did you test temps before cutting the bezel or just eyeball it and hope?
