Rant: stuffed a 3080 into a 1998 Compaq deskpro case and the front bezel would not go back on

I had to trim about half an inch of plastic off the drive cage to clear the card, and now the thing looks like a beige shoebox with a bite taken out of it. Anyone here cut into a vintage case and regret it, or do you just find a different shell?
