Airflow holes in a sleeper case beat any window mod I tried
Tbh I spent two weekends last spring cutting a side window into an old Dell OptiPlex case for my new build. Looked cool but the temps were awful, like my RTX 3070 was hitting 82c under load. So I ditched the window panel and used a hole saw to drill a grid of 12 vents on the top and rear, then added a slim 120mm fan inside. Honestly the difference was night and day, dropped to 64c and the case still looks like a boring office PC from 2003. The key was measuring the fan mount spots on the original steel before drilling, not just eyeballing it like I did with the window. Has anyone else removed a modded panel to go back to a more stock look for better airflow?

That window mod pain is real, man. I did the same thing on an old Fractal case years ago and regretted it the whole time. Drilling holes and keeping the stock panel just works better because the steel directs the air in a straight line, not bouncing it around a glass sheet. Plus you get the bonus of nobody looking twice at your rig, which honestly feels safer in a workshop. The measuring part is the hard lesson, once you eyeball one hole the whole grid goes crooked and you end up with a mess. Good call on cutting your losses and going back to vents, sometimes boring is the best temp fix.
