Changed my view on using diet logs for writing prompts
I always thought tracking food in stories was boring until I used a prompt about a character's meal diary. Seeing how meals revealed their hidden stresses made the narrative rich. The breakthrough came when I wrote a scene where a skipped breakfast hinted at deeper anxiety. Now I suggest diet-based prompts for building subtle backstories.

How do you usually format the diary entries in your drafts? I've found that just listing foods feels flat, but adding little details like "only ate half the sandwich" or "drank coffee cold three hours later" shows so much about a character's headspace. That coffee thing totally implied a character was too distracted to even use a microwave. Might try this with a side character next time to flesh them out quick.

Ever read how food details hint at mood, @river_hart18?

That cold coffee three hours later detail is actually unhinged. Forgetting food is one thing but staring at a microwave you can't bother to use for 180 minutes is a whole new level of checked out.
