Had a close call with a blind lift in downtown Seattle that changed my pre-lift routine.

The load swung because I didn't see a guy wire from an old building. Now I walk the site myself before the riggers even show up. Anyone else have a specific step they added after a near miss?

Oh man, guy wires are the worst. I started doing a full 360 walk around the crane and load path now, looking up high and down low. I even check for old anchor points in the pavement. Found a sneaky one hidden under some weeds last month. That extra five minutes feels annoying until it saves your bacon.

Used to skip that step until I saw a near miss.
