Am I the only one who thinks most stylists are cutting curls while the hair is still too wet?
I have been behind the chair for 19 years now, and for the past 6 months I have been asking every new curly client to come in with their hair dry so I can see the actual shape before I touch it. Nine times out of ten the previous cut was done on soaking wet hair, which stretches the curl out and makes the stylist cut too much off the sides and back. Last Tuesday a woman from Salem sat down and I could see right away her last cut was 2 inches shorter on the left because it was done wet and uneven. I started dry cutting the shape first and then washing and refining, and her curls finally sat the way she wanted. Does anyone else here dry cut first, or am I making extra work for myself?
