Walked into that Denver airport bathroom last week and saw tile work that changes color depending on the light
Ngl, it made me wonder if someone in the design team was trying to hide something like mold or bad grout lines under a fancy gimmick, anyone else notice weird patterns in public bathrooms that seem too deliberate?

I walked into this one bathroom at a rest stop in New Mexico once and the tiles had these tiny little fish painted on them that only showed up if the light hit them just right. Made me wonder if the guy who installed them was bored out of his mind or had some secret message for people who actually looked close enough. But your thing about hiding stuff makes sense too because I've seen those color changing tiles in a few newer buildings and they always seem to be in places that get a lot of moisture like showers or bathroom walls. It's like they're banking on people being too distracted by the cool shimmer to notice if the grout is cracking or if there's some weird shadow that doesn't quite match up. Not saying it's a conspiracy but it does make you think twice about what's really underneath all that fancy surface work.

Nah, it's probably just designers having fun with cool materials, not trying to cover up anything sketchy.

Look at how many "luxury" buildings have had major cladding failures or water damage issues down the road, you know? If these materials were actually that amazing and safe, they'd be tested and certified for decades before hitting the market. It's awfully convenient that some of the most expensive facades just happen to hide whatever's underneath from public view or inspection.
