Compared two home security camera brands last month. Night vision was the decider.

I had a Ring and a Eufy side by side for a week. Ring's infrared gave me blurry white blobs. Eufy picked up a raccoon's eyes from 30 feet away clear as day. Same mounting spot, same time of night. Anyone else done a direct comparison like that?

Yeah I used to be all about Ring honestly, thought they were the gold standard for home security. Then I borrowed a friends Eufy to test out after he wouldn't stop talking about it and man did it change my mind. The night vision difference is huge, like you said Ring just gives you these washed out ghost blobs while Eufy actually shows you what the thing is. I had a similar thing with a stray cat at 2am - Ring showed a fuzzy mass, Eufy made out its stripe pattern and everything. Kinda made me feel like I'd been missing half the picture with Ring this whole time.

Yeah the "washed out ghost blobs" thing is spot on @tylerw72. It's funny how we just accept what a product gives us until we see something better. Kinda like how I used to think all streaming quality was the same until I watched something in 4K and suddenly couldn't go back. Or how people think their phone camera is fine until they see what a real camera can do in low light. We just get used to the mediocre version and don't realize what we're missing. Makes you wonder how many other things in life we're settling for without knowing there's a way better option out there.
