Checked out a flat earth talk for laughs, the guy made one point that stuck

Last month I went to this public library meeting where some flat earth guy was giving a presentation. I figured it would be comedy gold. He had the usual globe photos are fake stuff and all that. But then he said something like 'You trust a map that changes every time a pilot looks out the window.' He was talking about flight paths and how they never show straight lines on long trips. That one line hit me different. Not because I buy the flat earth thing, but because it made me realize how much we take official explanations at face value. The guy was wrong about a lot, but he had a real skill for picking out small inconsistencies and blowing them up. It got me thinking about how to tell a genuine red flag from a manufactured one. I still think he was nuts, but I cant shake that one point. Anyone else ever catch a good argument from a person you totally disagree with? What do you do with it?
