Pro tip: watched a crew in Tulsa pour a 60 foot sidewalk in one run and it changed my mind on saw cuts
I was in Tulsa last month visiting my brother and drove past a crew pouring a long sidewalk near the river. I always thought cutting joints the next morning was the safe way, but these guys cut within about 4 hours while the concrete was still green. I hung around and asked the foreman why, and he said on a hot windy day waiting overnight lets the slab shrink and crack wherever it wants before you even get the blade in it. Now I cut as soon as I can walk on it without marking it up. Anyone else switch to early cuts, and how do you know when it is soon enough?
