Debate: is it really worth opening every laptop for a deep clean?

I worked at a shop in Denver for 3 years and never saw a big difference from doing full teardowns versus just blasting the fans with compressed air. Then last month I cracked open a 2018 Dell that had a solid dust cake on the heatsink, temps dropped 20 degrees after cleaning it. So am I just getting lazy, or are some machines actually fine with a quick blowout?

You ever just assume you're right for years then smack into the hard truth? I was exactly the same way. Thought compressed air was good enough. Then I finally took apart a buddy's old gaming laptop that was thermal throttling. Dust was basically a felt blanket. I felt like an idiot. Now I always recommend a full teardown if you can. Quick blowout is fine for maintenance but if it's running hot you gotta open it up.
