Sat phone upgrade finally made sense after the Harwich job
Used to haul a 40 pound bag phone in my dry bag for offshore work, half the time the battery was dead by the time I needed it. Last year I switched to a compact sat communicator after my buddy Dave got separated from the crew near Harwich for 6 hours, that was enough for me. The new one costs about 300 bucks for the unit and the plan is way cheaper than the old airtime. Anyone else ditch the big units for something smaller, or am I just being lazy about the weight?

Did you look at how the old battery held up in cold temps, though?
