Old floppy disks vs modern day flash drives for backing up my learning projects
Back in 2015 at my desk in Dallas I kept every bit of code on 3.5 inch floppies, and losing one meant redoing 40 lines of JavaScript from memory. Now I just drag my folder to a $9 USB stick I got at a gas station and it holds more than 200 of those old disks ever could. Does anyone else miss the forced patience of those tiny storage limits, or is it just me?
Wait, you had to redo 40 lines of code from memory if you lost ONE floppy? That is wild to me. I can't even imagine typing everything out again because a tiny plastic square got lost somewhere.
