Chose a $30 online course over a $400 bootcamp, best call I made

Back in March I was stuck between paying for a full coding bootcamp or just trying a cheap Udemy class. I picked the $30 one because I couldn't afford the other, and honestly the pace was way better for me. The bootcamp felt like drinking from a fire hose, but the course let me pause and rewind the parts about loops and arrays. I built my first tiny calculator app after 6 weeks of evenings. Has anyone else found that cheaper self-paced stuff sticks better than the intense group setup?

Man, that totally makes sense to me! I tried a group class once for something totally different and I spent more time feeling dumb in the room than actually learning. The self-paced thing just gives you room to mess up and try again without people watching you. Plus when you hit that wall with loops, you can just stop and rewatch it twenty times until it clicks. The bootcamp crowd gets pushed to move fast even if you're not ready, and that's how you end up copying code just to keep up. You actually got to build that calculator because you understood the pieces, not because you rushed through them. That $30 course probably taught you how to learn on your own, which is way more valuable in the long run.
