Shoutout to the dollar tamale lady outside the laundromat on 5th, I was wrong about her
I walked past this woman selling tamales out of a cooler outside the Suds Your Duds on 5th for maybe two years and never bought one because I figured $1.50 tamales had to be mostly masa and sadness. My coworker Dana kept telling me to try them and I kept blowing her off. Then one cold morning last month I was running late, skipped breakfast, and caved. She pulled one out still steaming, wrapped in foil, and handed it over with this little cup of green salsa. It was pork, and it was legit better than the $4 ones I get at the spot near my house. I have gone back probably eight times since, and she knows my order now, two pork and one chicken. If you are in the area before 9am, do not sleep on it. Anyone else got a food cart or cooler person they judged way too fast?
Man, I was the same way about the guy with the breakfast burrito cart by my old job. Walked past him for a year thinking no way a $2 burrito is any good, then tried it one day and felt like a fool. That cart fed me lunch for like six months straight after that.
