Old laptop hinge held together with zip ties for 8 months now
My 2014 Dell started cracking at the hinge so bad the screen would flop over, instead of paying $90 for a new lid I drilled tiny holes and ran 3 zip ties through the plastic frame. It holds the tension fine and looks janky but works, though the plastic is starting to stress a little. Has anyone else done an ugly repair like this that ended up lasting way longer than the factory part?

Zip ties beat factory parts every time. That $90 hinge probably woulda snapped again anyway.
