Warning: glue-down carpet in a basement with slab cracks bit me hard

I did a 900 sq ft glue-down job in a finished basement near Cincinnati last fall. The homeowner swore the slab was sealed, but there was a hairline crack running the whole length of the room. About 3 months in, that crack shifted and the carpet started tenting right along it. I went back, cut a relief line, and used a patch strip with a strong seam tape. It held, but I should have refused the job until they fixed the slab. Has anyone else dealt with slab movement ruining a glue-down install?
