The homeowner who stood over me timing my cuts
I had this one job in a McMansion out in the suburbs last month where the homeowner literally stood behind me with his phone out, timing how long I took to cut each piece of carpet. He kept saying stuff like "my last guy could do a door frame in 45 seconds" and then showing me the stopwatch. I finally turned around and asked if he wanted to trade places for a minute, which shut him up fast but man, I was so close to just packing up my tools and walking. Has anyone else had a client turn a simple carpet install into a weird competition?

Did he offer to spot you with a stopwatch on the bathroom breaks too? Sounds like a real thrill to work for someone who treats carpet cutting like the Olympics.
