Old guy at a job site in Boise showed me how to stagger seams in 30 seconds flat
He just took a scrap piece and laid it diagonal across the seam, pressed down with his knee, and the whole thing lined up perfect has anyone else seen that trick or was this dude just a wizard?

pressed down with his knee" - hold on. That's insane. Did he actually put his full weight on a scrap board? I feel like my luck would have it snap right in half and throw me off balance. Or worse, the seam would shift wrong and I'd have to redo the whole row. That guy's either been doing this since the 70s or he's got some kind of superpower. Seriously impressed but also kinda scared to try it myself.

You know, @scott.mia, that reminds me of the time my uncle tried to fix a loose floorboard in his kitchen by standing on a 2x4 and jumping up and down. He thought it would settle the boards, but the thing snapped in half and he landed with one foot in a bucket of paint he had sitting nearby. Took him an hour to clean up and the floor still creaks worse than before. Some people just have that magic touch, I guess, but I'll stick to my tap block and hope for the best.
