Just watched a guy try to stretch carpet with a damn fork
I was at a supply house in Akron yesterday and saw some homeowner bring back a piece of carpet he tried to install himself. He said he used a kitchen fork to stretch it into the tack strip because his knee kicker broke. The whole thing was bunching up at the seams and he was blaming the carpet. Some people really should just pay a pro instead of messing up good material. Anyone else seen some wild DIY install attempts?

yeah I saw this thing on Facebook the other day where this guy used a butter knife and a hammer to try and tap carpet into place. Said he saw it in a YouTube video. Anyway, a fork is actually kind of funny but also kinda sad cause you just know that carpet is gonna look terrible in a month or two. The thing about carpet is you gotta have the right tools or the seams just pull apart and then you're stuck with a mess that costs more to fix than just hiring someone from the start. I've seen people use everything from a crowbar to a flathead screwdriver trying to save a few bucks and it never ends well.

Used to think you could get by with whatever was lying around, but you're right. After seeing a few carpet jobs go sideways I'd rather just rent the proper tool.
