Just realized I had my knee kicker angle off for 12 years
I was stretching a bedroom in a house over in Garland last Tuesday and the carpet kept popping loose at the far wall no matter how hard I kicked it. A guy I trained with back in 2005 happened to stop by with a drop for another job and watched me for about a minute before he asked why I was kicking at such a flat angle. Turns out I had been hitting the kicker almost level since day one because that's how the guy who taught me did it, and I never questioned it. I angled the head up about 15 degrees like he showed me and the same stretch grabbed tight on the first try. Any of you ever pick up a bad habit from whoever trained you and not find out for a decade?
Laughed at this because 12 years is a long time to be doing something wrong and never once have it bite you. Guess the carpet gods were just feeling nice until Garland. My old boss taught me to cut padding with the wrong side of the blade up and I did it that way for like 6 years before somebody pointed out I was mashing the edges. Funny how you never question the guy who trained you, even when your back is screaming at you every day. At least you found out from a buddy and not from a homeowner walking in on the mess.
