Has carpet quality actually dipped since 2015, or is it just me?

I've been reinstalling in the Richmond area for 12 years now, and I swear the loop piles I pull up from 2015 and earlier hold up way better than what I'm pulling from houses built after 2020. Same brands, same padding specs, but the newer stuff seems to crush and delaminate at the backing after just 3 or 4 years of normal foot traffic. Anyone else noticing this shift in residential carpet, or did I just hit a run of bad mill batches?
