Saw a framing crew in Tucson doing it the old way

Drove past a two story house going up near I-10 last week and the crew was laying out the top plate with a chalk line and a framing square. No fancy digital stuff, just eyeballing the corners and nailing it. It hit me that I started that way 20 years ago and now I can't remember the last time I used a square for layout, everything's on my phone. The young guy running the crew looked about 25 and he was teaching his helper the same method my dad taught me. Anyone else notice the old school tricks slipping out of the trade, or is it just the guys I run into?
