My old boss in Bakersfield said 'measure twice, cut once' is for amateurs
He said pros measure three times because wood doesn't grow back. I laughed at first, but then he showed me a $600 walnut slab he ruined in '09 by rushing. Now I do his three-check thing on every cabinet door and my scrap pile has shrunk by half. Anyone else pick up a weird rule from an old timer that actually stuck?
Had a foreman named Dale in Fresno who made us mark every cut line with a pencil and then a knife. Said the pencil line is for thinking and the knife line is for cutting. Sounds dumb but I swear my fit is tighter on every face frame now.
