The $85 resume critique that told me to lie about my hobbies

I paid $85 to a career coach in Austin last month for a resume review. She said my work history was fine but my hobbies section made me look boring. Her advice was to say I do competitive axe throwing because hiring managers remember fun people. I actually put that on my resume and got a call back within 48 hours for a logistics job. During the interview, they asked me to demo my throwing form during the office happy hour. I tried to fake it with a pen and it went sideways, literally hit the HR manager's coffee mug. Shockingly, they still offered me the job but I turned it down because I couldn't keep up the lie. Has anyone else paid for career advice that was basically creative writing? Or did that coach actually stumble onto some weird hiring truth I should lean into?
