I asked for a $3 raise instead of 10k and my boss said yes in 4 minutes
Asked for three bucks an hour at my review in March because the big number scared me, got approved on the spot, and now I'm wondering if everyone else is overthinking this whole salary talk thing too.
Three bucks an hour is like six grand a year if you work full time, so you basically left money on the table just because the big number felt weird to say out loud. Tbh the scary part isnt even asking, its the fact that your boss said yes in 4 minutes, which means they already had way more room to say no. When something gets approved that fast you have to wonder what the actual ceiling was and how much lower you started than you had to. Ngl next review just say the real number and watch how fast the vibe changes.
