Warning: 6 months in a damp garage turned my brake rotors into a science project
I parked my 2008 Civic in my uncle's unheated garage in Portland last October and pulled it out this April. The rotors had gone from smooth and shiny to rough orange rust in just those 6 months, and the pads had bonded to the surface. My mechanic quoted me $420 to replace the rotors and pads, all because the garage floor stays wet every winter. I thought a garage was always better than a driveway, but apparently damp concrete is worse than open air. Anyone here run a dehumidifier in their storage spot, and does it actually keep the rotors clean?
