Warning: a guy on a forum ripped apart my 'Firefly deserved 5 seasons' post and it made me rethink how I argue for shows
About 6 months ago I posted a big rant on a general TV board about how Firefly got robbed after 14 episodes and I thought I was making a solid case. One reply just asked me 'what did season 2 actually look like in your head' and I had nothing. I had been arguing from feelings, not from anything you could actually point at. So I started rewatching the shows I loved and got cancelled, and now I only make the case with stuff on screen: cut plotlines, ratings dips, what the creators said in interviews, that kind of thing. My posts get way fewer likes now but the replies are better, people actually talk about the show. I think this community leans too hard on pure outrage and it gets us nowhere. Curious if anyone here has changed how they make the case for a show they miss.
