Found a scary number on my old camp stove fuel canister

I was cleaning out my garage in Austin and checked the date on my MSR IsoPro fuel canister. It was from 2017. Looked it up, and the manufacturer says you should not use them past 10 years from the fill date. That's a hard cutoff for safety, not just a suggestion. Has anyone else had a canister fail or get sketchy after a few years?

The 10 year rule is for the canister itself, not the fill date. They stamp the can with a manufacture date, and that's your start point. Did yours have a date code stamped into the metal near the bottom?

Just spent five minutes looking for that date stamp like a total rookie. Good call, @jesse_barnes37, found it tucked under the label. Mine's definitely past the ten year mark, so guess I'm shopping for a new one.

My last fire extinguisher hunt took 15 minutes, so @jesse_barnes37 saved you some real time there.
