Warning: skip the $90 lens cleaning kit from the big box store

Last month I wanted to clean a stubborn fungus spot off an old Takumar. Bought this fancy kit with swabs, fluid, and a blower. Turns out the fluid left a weird film on the glass and the swabs shredded. Had to send the lens to a pro anyway, cost me $60 extra. Total waste of $90. What do you guys actually use for fungus cleaning that won't ruin coatings?

Funny, I used to swear by the expensive kits too. That film thing got me once. Never again.
