Just spent 3 hours chasing a shutter issue on a customer's A7 III and it was a bent mount the whole time
So this guy drops off his Sony A7 III last Tuesday saying the shutter is randomly sticking and sometimes won't fire at all. Classic right? I pull the body, clean the shutter assembly, check the magnets, run it through 200 cycles on my bench and it fires perfect every single time. I put it back together, hand it to him Wednesday morning, and he calls me Thursday afternoon saying it's doing the exact same thing. He swears it only happens with his 24-70 attached. I finally grab my calipers and check the lens mount flange on the body, and sure enough it's got a 0.15mm bend on the bottom corner, probably from a drop he forgot to mention. The lens was pulling just enough to bind the shutter linkage when the body warmed up from shooting. $85 part and 20 minutes of actual work, but I ate 3 hours of labor because I trusted the symptom instead of checking the frame first. Has anybody else had a mount bend throw a shutter code on these newer bodies? I feel like I'm losing my mind on diagnosis lately.

Wait, you said he swears it only happens with his 24-70 attached, did you ever get him to hand over the lens so you could check the mount on that side too? Curious if the glass took any of that hit or if it walked away clean. Because if the lens flange is off even a hair, you're gonna be chasing this same ghost next month.
