Finally broke down and bought a $180 Klein cable toner

I've been fighting with bad labels and guessing which line goes where for two years. Picked up the Klein VDV501-852 at supply house last week. First job this morning, found a dead line in a bundle of 30 in under 2 minutes. Worth every penny. Anyone else use these or stick with the cheap ones?

Dropped the money on one last year after my third day of tracing a mystery cable with a beeper that kept false beeping. It's like when you finally replace those cheap windshield wipers that leave streaks and wonder why you waited so long. The time you save not fighting with junk tools adds up way faster than the couple extra bucks you spent. Funny how we'll sit there and struggle with something for hours just to avoid admitting the tool we have isn't cutting it.

Saw a guy on YouTube making the exact same point last week. He compared it to trying to cut a steak with a butter knife and wondering why the meal takes forever. Those cheap toner probes are basically guessing games, not tools. The peace of mind alone from knowing the beep is real has gotta be worth the upgrade.
