Zip tied my whole desk last year, now I'm wondering if velcro was the smarter call
Spent 2 hours last Saturday redoing the back of my desk in Portland because one zip tie was too tight and pinched an HDMI cable until the screen flickered. Half of me says zip ties are cheap and never come loose, the other half says velcro is worth the extra $8 because I can actually swap a cable without cutting everything, so which side are you on?

Zip ties are the right call and you already proved it. That HDMI pinch was user error, not a zip tie problem, since a proper loop with a little slack would have been fine forever. Velcro loses its grip after a few years, collects dust and cat hair, and turns into a sticky mess when your room gets warm in the summer. Plus nobody is swapping cables back there every week, so the whole "easy to change" thing is a fix for a problem you have maybe once a year. Buy better zip ties, leave some slack, and never touch that rat's nest again.
