I was digging through a dusty crate at the Rose Bowl flea market last Saturday when this older guy told me his grandma's skillet had been cooking eggs since before the moon landing. He wanted $12 and I almost walked away because it looked rough, but he said to just scrub it with steel wool and season it. I did exactly that with some flaxseed oil over the weekend and now it slides fried eggs around better than the $40 pan I bought two years ago that's already peeling. It's crazy how a 60 year old chunk of iron beats anything stamped out today. Has anyone else found a cheap old pan that still beats the fancy new stuff?
