Hit 47 dead cables before I finally got the message

I keep a drawer of failed USB-C cables, mostly because I hate throwing things away. Last weekend I counted them while cleaning, and it was 47 total. That number hit me harder than I expected, because every single one of them died the same way, either at the connector or right where the braid meets the plug. I realized I've been buying cheap replacements for years and never once added up what that really costs. Has anyone else kept a graveyard pile and actually tallied theirs up?

47 cables is a lot but that's like what, a hundred bucks over a few years? Sounds more like a hoarding habit than a real problem.
