Warning: that $9 tube of plumber's putty turned my sink drain into a two day job
So I noticed a slow drip under the kitchen sink on Saturday morning and grabbed the cheap putty from the hardware store on 5th to reseat the drain flange. I rolled a fat snake of it, pressed it down, and cranked the strainer tight, but I guess I used way too much since it squished out inside the pipe and hardened into a crusty plug. By Sunday night the sink drained slower than ever and water was backing up into the dishwasher line, so I had to pull the whole trap apart with a bucket and a coat hanger. Turns out you only need a thin ring the size of a pencil, not a big gob. Has anyone else had that stuff set up on them like concrete?
