Rant: our store's upload speed went from 3 Mbps to 40 in six months and nobody can agree on why
Six months ago our shop in Boise was on a bonded DSL line pulling about 3 Mbps up, and backing up the register data to the cloud took most of the night. We switched to a fiber plan in March after the old provider kept missing repair windows, and now the same nightly backup finishes in under 10 minutes. Half the crew says the new line fixed everything, but our IT guy swears the real change was moving the POS off the guest wifi onto its own router. I honestly cannot tell which one did it, since we made both changes the same weekend. Has anyone here split a small office setup like this and figured out which fix actually mattered?
