A Comcast tech told me 'business is business' and my $187 monthly bill finally made sense
Last Thursday I was at my shop in Boise waiting on a tech because our card readers kept dropping during lunch rush, and when he finally showed up he poked around the modem for ten minutes and then said plain as day, 'yeah this is the residential box, they gave you business pricing on home gear.' I just stood there. We pay $187 a month for what he said is basically a $70 residential line with a different sticker on it, and he told me half the small businesses on our block are running the exact same setup without knowing. He pulled the model number and showed me it tops out way under what we were told we were buying on the sales call. So now I'm digging through our contract and the fine print just says 'business class internet' with no specs at all, which apparently lets them sell whatever box they want. If you run a register or a card reader on your line, go look at the actual model number on your modem and google it, takes two minutes. Anyone else get sold a residential box at a business price, and did you ever get them to swap it?
