Unpopular opinion: Cable combs are overrated for most builds
I spent three years carefully lining up every cable with those plastic combs on my last 5 builds. Then I saw a build at a LAN party last month where the guy just used zip ties and twisted his cables into neat bundles. Looked cleaner than my comb jobs and took half the time. What finally tipped me off was when I tried to add a new SATA drive and had to cut half the combs off just to reroute one cable. Has anyone else ditched combs for something simpler?

Another overlooked factor is how combs trap dust. The tight plastic grid creates little pockets where dust cakes up, while a simple twisted bundle lets air flow through and keeps the inside of your case visibly cleaner. I switched to twisting cables with small velcro straps and noticed the difference within a month.

Its the same thing with almost EVERYTHING in modern design honestly. We keep adding MORE stuff to fix problems that weren't even there in the first place. Combs look cool and feel "organized" but they just create new messes. Its like how people buy those fancy cable management boxes that turn into a tangled spider web inside. Or how we put plastic covers on everything and it just traps heat and dust worse than leaving it bare. Sometimes the simplest solution with the LEAST amount of junk is actually the most effective. We just need to get over wanting stuff to look "professional" and focus on what actually works longer term.
