Heat shrink fixed my laptop charger after 3 tape jobs failed

My HP charger cable split right at the brick last month. Tried electrical tape, then duct tape, then those little wire wraps. All of them worked for like 2 days then slid off again. Friend from work said to use heat shrink tubing and I figured why not. Cleaned the wires, slid a 1/2 inch tube over the break, hit it with a lighter for 10 seconds. That was 2 weeks ago and its still solid. Felt dumb I fought with tape for so long. Anyone else use heat shrink on power cables instead of just throwing them out?
