Guy at the salvage yard in Fresno talked me out of a $90 alternator for my 98 Civic
I went in last Saturday ready to just buy the first one that fit, and this older dude behind the counter asked what my car was doing. I told him the battery light was flickering and he said "hold on, let me look at your grounds first before you spend that." He walked me out to the lot with a $4 test light and we found a corroded strap in like 10 minutes. Saved me the cash and taught me more than any youtube video has. What's the best thing a yard guy ever talked you out of buying?
