Just learned bricks expand more in summer than I ever figured, and it explains a job from 2019
I was reading a tech sheet from the brick plant in Fort Worth and it said clay brick can grow about 1/16 inch per 10 feet when they soak up heat and moisture, which I never once thought about on a wall. Back in 2019 we laid a long garden wall in July and by September the control joints looked like they were pinched shut, and now I know why. Any of you factor expansion into your joint layout on long runs, or do you just go off the engineer's spacing and hope?
